■ Camille Guadalupe Lita

Sole winning bet Patricia Nicdao of Kasama ka sa Paglikha ng Arte at Literatura (KALikha) will lead the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) Student Council (SC) next year, which is dominated by the Student Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic Rights in UP (STAND UP) candidates following the April 6 poll results.

Nicdao garnered 274 votes against STAND UP CAL’s Meirille Jann Merlin with 247 votes. Marinella Andres of STAND UP CAL sealed the vice chair post with 311 votes, defeating KALikha bet Pia Pollaine Magaoay with 193 votes.

STAND UP CAL’s John Isaac Punzalan will represent CAL to the University Student Council after garnering 377 votes over Ryan Paulo Yurong of Alyansa ng mga Mag-aaral para sa Panlipunang Katwiran at Kaunlaran (UP ALYANSA) with 171 votes.

STAND UP CAL clinched all councilor posts, with Joshua Ceasar Chan as the top bet securing 301 votes.

A total of 593 out of 1,347 students or 44.02 percent of the voter’s population voted this year, lower than last year’s 47.27 percent voter’s turnout. ■
